RELEVANT PROJECTS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Mining (diversified) company: Risk, fraud investigations and management consulting services
Services included selected portions of a larger project that focused on the delivery of project assurance services directly assisting international teams in the delivery of assignments in Chile, Brazil and South Africa. This included the review of their project management practices, tools and techniques applied for the management of multi-billion-dollar brownfield expansaion projects. This included areas such as cost, schedule, scope, risk, and others. Recommendations were reported to the global Audit Committee and implemented by the project teams.

Government, Transport & Logistics
Services included the performance of audit of the R 250 Million section of the R 3.2 Billion Tshwane Rapid Transport System. This inluded a review of KPIs, and practices and risks related to the management of contracts, quality, scope, and schedule. It resulted in recommendations of how to manage scope through an integrated representation of the Work Breakdown Structure , the Cost Breakdown Structure and the Construction Schedule and on how to set up contracts in order to effectively and objectively track/assess the performance of contractors. Lastly, recommendations were issued on level of adherence or deviation to the City’s quality specifications.

Government
Services included the establishment of a Programme Management Officeto (PMO) to manage the implementation of a 10 year capital implementation program worth+- R 50 Billion spanning across the cities, 16 departments and 13 municipalentities. It also included setting up the PMO to implement the review of organization structure, roles & responsibilities, process & procedures, tools and templates. Portfolio optimization and prioritization of capital projects for the annual Medium Term Expenditure Framework MTEF budgeting cycle. Finally, there was the performance of independent reviews of a selection of existing capital programs to ensure alignment to the cities strategic development goals and assistance with resolution of project disputes.

Mining - Independent Monitoring and Advisory services for an Iron Ore Mine expansion project
The expansion was for 3 million tons pa additional output for a capital Investment of R3 billion. Services included proving support for the Board which approved additional R 350 million escalation coverage (based on Escalation Analysis conducted for the project). Services included comprehensive project management guidance consisting of business, project manager’s and project controls handbooks and the development of contract closeout framework and assistance to project team to close 350 contracts (Technical, Commercial and Financial closeout).
